1. You’re not getting any younger. Sorry. You’re just not.
2. It’s a recession – things are cheap and people are happy to see you(spending money) in their country.
3. Airfares will just keep going up. ‘
4. The world is getting smaller. Thanks internet! But seriously, it’s time you stop logging on to see the places you’ve always wanted to see and go see them! They will always be better in person.
5. It will change you. I dare you to find someone that thinks their personal travel made them a worse person. My guess is you can’t.
Travel doesn’t take much, just the desire to shake things up a bit. It may seem a bit scary but take my word for it – the world is not as scary as many people (*eh-hem* I’m talking about you, Media) want you to believe. I sat at the desk of my old job for two years wondering if our trip was a good idea. Why should we quit our jobs, let our apartment go, leave our families at a time like this? Isn’t it too risky?
Perhaps it was. We’re bleeding money without having an income. We don’t know where we’ll live when we get home (or where home will be for us, come to think of it). We don’t have jobs lined up when we get back. The list of future unknowns goes on and on.
There are pros and cons to everything in life, travel included but I can assure you – so much so that I’m going to type in bold all-caps – TRAVEL IS WORTH IT. I am proud of who we are because of this trip, regardless of what scary realities wait for us at home.
Think about what travel can do for you. Bold, all-caps typing might not even be enough to describe it. Just think about it – it might change your life.
