We’re no strangers to traveling in places that use their rivers as dumping grounds. Kathmandu’s river might have been the worst we’ve seen, but at least they were a little bit subtle about it.
Subtlety is apparently not Myitkyina’s thing. The fine riverside toilet we passed on yesterday’s walk leaves no doubt in defecation destination. However, with a fine little window facing the river, it might qualify as one of the most scenic places to take a dump – that is, as long as you don’t look down.
